How to Find a Job in 2022

Some of you may be overwhelmed with how many resources there are for finding a job in today's market. There are hundreds of job boards online, career fairs, networking events, you name it. Even though it may seem intimidating at first, I am here to tell you that it is best to start small. Do some poking around online and see what interests you out there. Take it one step at a time when looking for a job. Maybe start by looking at potential jobs on sites like Indeed and LinkedIn. Talk with good friends and relatives to see if they know someone in a field you are interested in. The bottom line is to take it slow and find a job that is a good fit for you. Try your best to avoid jumping into a new job too quickly only to discover that it is a poor fit.

Here is a job posting that I found on LinkedIn that I would happily apply for.

I ended up finding this job on LinkedIn after searching for logistics related jobs. It was one of the first results I saw and I thought it looked very interesting.

The job is a Materials Planner position which involves:

  • Planning the supply of new and existing purchased parts in accordance with ERP requirements
  • Ensuring delivery of parts as per established delivery schedule

  • Proactively contacting suppliers to ensure parts delivery and quantity will be made according to the schedule
  • Process non-conforming parts and negotiate chargeback’s with supplier
  • Optimize inventory level as per company criteria and objectives

  • Communicate internally any potential parts shortage, and proactively mitigate liability

The employer is Bombardier or BRP for short and what I know about them is they are a recreational products manufacturer. They have snowmobile brands like Ski-Doo and Lynx. They make wave runners under the brand name Sea-Doo and boat brands Alumacraft, and Manitou. They used to make Evinrude outboards until they shut down that division in 2020. BRP also makes Can-am off-road vehicles and on-road vehicles like Spyder trikes. Bombardier also makes airplanes under a different division.

The qualifications for this job are:

  • High school diploma/GED required; Bachelor Degree in Logistics or related field preferred
  • 1+ years of related experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with SAP is preferred
